What could be better than an old firm clash to start the seasonwith. Peel must have been empty on Saturday as they had a large support in a crowd of over 200.Josh Thomas was making his debut for Rushen while the returning Josh Kelly and newcomer Adam Kinley were on the bench. Peel had Sean Kelly making his debut and welcomed Max Thomas and Lee Gale back after a year out while newcomer Mattie Skillicorn was on the bench. Peel had the better of the opening stages but it was Rushen who took the lead on a break away with Steve Riding finding the net on a breakaway. Rushen increased the lead 4 minutes into the second half when Josh Thomas found the net. Rushens joy was short lived as 1 minute later Daniel Bell pulled one back. On the hour the westerners were level when Daniel Bell bundled in from a corner. Shortly after Josh Kelly and Harry Best were introduced from the bench and Kelly with his back to a Peel defender received an off the ball kick for no reason. This was just the incentive he needed and it was from his pass that Mike Williams scored what was to be the deciding goal giving Rushen a welcome 3 points to start the season with.
