Two good wins against St johns

David Faragher, 19 September 2017 17:45

The first team picked up a comfortable 3-0 victory against St Johns. In the early stages St johns looked more likely to score. After 15 minutes a good Rushen move sent Saxon down the wing and he outpaced the home defence before burying the ball into the far corner. One minute later he set up the second goal when his cross was headed back by Williams for Murphy with an acrobatic overhead kick putting the ball into the net. Rushen were well on top now and Williams increased the lead just before half time. The second half saw Rushen come close on numerous occasions but some good goalkeeping kept Rushen at bay.

The combination team got off to a flying start with three goals in the first ten minutes through Lunn 2 and Watterson. This is how it remained until 10 minutes before half time when another  3 goal spurt with goals from Crawley Lunn and Kelly gave Rushen a 6-0 lead at half time. The second half remained goalless until the last minute when Crawley made it 7-0 with his second goal
